To Hyannis in the morning, and I went round the JFK Museum with Will, while Midge took a stroll along Main Street to look at the shops.

A small, very personal museum, that is like strolling through the Jack Kennedy family album. As you might expect, the museum concentrates on his time in Hyannis, and is a collection of photographs and family cine film.

Sat with Will through a short documentary. Will was surprisingly interested. He was mainly curious that most of it was in black and white.

In the afternoon drove to Chatham, where we watched seals playing around the fish dock and went swimming off the beach.

Came home and watched Hilary Clinton give a powerful (presidential?) speech at the DNC. They say she isn't a great orator, but she was great tonight. Evening started with a dull speech by Mark Warner, an impressive speech by Deval Patrick and a rabble rousing performance by Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer.

We've been talking to a lot of people on our travels about the election in November. Almost all the posters have been Democrat and interesting to see areas where Clinton posters dominate and those where Obama is prominent. All the TV ads in the short time that we've had access to a TV have been McCain ads, and the polls give a several point lead to McCain at the moment. Talking to Democrats though, they say these are August numbers that don't mean much and the numbers will start to be more representative in September.

All very interesting.

Started listening to Nic's 'Coming Home' CD in the car today - CD No 5 in the 'Road Trip' series she recorded for us. And there it was ! John Denver, hidden away on CD 5. She told us off a couple of weeks ago for dissing her compilation - by asking where John Denver was ! For some reason CD 5 wouldn't play in the motor home CD player - so I put it to one side and only thought about trying it again today - and hey presto it was fine in the hire car player. Some great songs on it. Nic's CD's have been the backing tracks for most of the trip. I think for Cape Cod however, Abba has to be the theme tune. We've been playing it in the car for the last week since singing along with Helen at Mama Mia. And wherever we go around here we hear Abba.
