Bruges day 2 & 3

Bruge has been a great time.  We have been lucky enough to meet some really great people that we shared our room with.  Most of our time has been spent with them walking around the city and trying out some famously unhealthy food. (Potatoes with mayo sauce and waffles with ice cream!!)

Yesterday we took a 5 hour bike tour around the country side.  We were able to tour through a canal lined with poplar trees that Napoleon I commissioned to have planted to hide his troops moving towards his last conquest to Great Britain.  And yes, Adam and I did actually complete a 5 hour bike tour without needing medical treatment.

Our first night here also marked the beginning of the Kinkers festival, a free music festival held in a huge square beside a massive cathedral.  We went to the festival two nights in a row and tonight we plan on going again.

Yesterday we went on a brewery tour.  The beer here is actually as good as you hear.  We are completely spoiled on two beers called Kriek and Bruges Zot (pronounced zshot)

Today we went on a boat tour of the canals.  One of the bridges goes as far back as 1600 which is relatively new for anything around here.

Kelly, I know you requested some more "Adam stories".  There are definitely a few but I just can't think of them now!  I promise to list them all...

This evening we ended up eating this ridiculously huge meal.  We went to this restaurant that sells huges bowls of pasta for only 3 Euros.  In the end we ended up ordering way too much food because it was all so cheap.  What was really hilarious was that there were only 3 seats available on the patio. The owner sat Adam at a two person table that he shared with an obese Belgian woman.  Thankfully, I was able to share a table with someone I knew :)

Tomorrow we head to Amsterdam!
