We said goodbye to Dahab and the amazing red sea and got onto probably the most inappropriate bus for an overnight bus we had been in. It was hell. Meagan hated that she got stuck sitting next to giraffe man David. It was a shame because it made us really tired for the next day.

We got back into crazy Cairo and had a few hours to refresh. We then met our new tour leader who took us to the 1st mosque in Cairo and the hanging church. We were both a little too tired to care too much about these. We then headed to the bazaar in Cairo and after eating some really suss food went shopping for a little bit. Once again we were a little too tired to play haggle and we only bought a cheap bangle and some ice cream. After this we headed to the Egyptian Museum. It was great to see all of the relics and artifacts from all of the sites we had seen. The highlight for us would have to have been the royal mummy room and the mummified animals room. Both had some fascinating things inside. It was kind of sad to think that these great kings of Egypt now lay in little glass cases in a shabby room. The other highlight was of course the treasures from King Tuts tomb. He had everything in there ranging from spectacular gold coffins to his nappies from when he was a baby. Seeing the extensive coffins (6 massive wood and gold cases like a russian doll) just highlighted the lack of splendour that the other royal mummies have in their current resting place.

That night we had a very sad last dinner with the friends that we had made. We were leaving in the morning so we just spent some time chatting by the pool and then we said goodbye. It was even more emotionally upsetting for us because this marked the end of our amazing journey and reminded us of the fact that we had no money and we needed to get back to work. It is hard to see how we could top this trip.
