Back through the Rockies
From Mike and Meg's Honeymoon in Dillon, United States on Jul 19 '07
We had a new destination and that was Colorado. We went back and forth about what our route home was going to be and decided that we wanted to see Meg's friend Lindsey who had recently moved out to Colorado (not for the gold mining I don't think). It was our longest day of driving yet...probably about 11 hours in the car and we wanted to reach Lindsey's place in Dillon, CO (9087 feet above sea level) and hang with her and her boyfriend while they were not working for a bit and crash. I will tell you what, a while back on the trip we found out that Meg does not do too well driving through the mountains. Long story short...I would be heading BACK into the Rockies, only this time it was getting dark, a huge storm was lurking to the south and the local newspapers was informing us that route 70 was closed the day before due to mudslides and such. Long story short and we made it over Vail Pass...it was smooth sailing from there. We arrived at Lindsey's house around midnight to a nice home cooked meal and some cold drinks. Lindsey and Wade were great and we spend the remainder of the night teaching meg how to play guitar hero and catch up on family and Liverpool business. Funny...no one wants to catch up on old Fowler high school friends...oh wait they are all mostly incarcerated. Anyway Lisndsey and Wade were great and thanks again guys for letting us crash....it will be longer next time.
