Our journey from the bus depot on Queen St in Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (KL) was relatively painless, in spite of the fact that the bus was about 20 years old and my chair was falling off its hinges! I think I was just so excited at the thought of being somewhere different and nothing could have dappened my spirits once we officially crossed the border about an hour into our 5 hour bus journey!
Arriving in KL was quiet the nightmare as we were dropeed off on some dodgy street and men swarmed all over us - sleeze city! We had no hotel booked so made our way with our rucksacks in tow to the nearest call shop and proceeded to ring about 30 hotels until we eventually found somewhere in a nice area that was willing to take us in for the next 2 nights! After arriving at the hotel we celebrated with a few too many beers!
she was given an injection in her backside - seemed to sort her out as she hasnt complained much since

The next day was spent shopping and eating - tried some local food such as Claypot Rice and Tai Chow Wee Mee at the Medan Selera Hawker centre - absolutely fab & dirt cheap - about 4 euros per person and that included beers as well. We then moved on to a very cool egyptian bar called Lecha Lecha - great night! On our way home we got the coolest cab driver ever - his name was Kannan and he was telling us all about his love for his city and how he would love to show us the sites. At first we thought he was taking us for a ride but he then turned off the meter and drove us all around to different temples and the parliment building which I have to say were fab lit up at night.

Had to get up at the crack of dawn the next day to queue for tickets for Petrona Towers - Sinead was a little bit grumpy about this to say the least!! After 2 hours of queueing we got our tickets and decided to avail of the Hop On / Hop Off bus tour around the city so that passed the day until we were due back at Petrona for our walk on the sky bridge at 2.30 (you collect your ticket in the morning and are given an alloted time to come back for). It was a little disappointing if I am honest but still worth the visit as it is free. On the bus tour we managed to see the changing of the guards at the Royal Palace, Chinatown, Central Market, Parliment Buildings again at day and lots of other bits and pieces!

The most exciting thing that happens us while in KL had to be Sineads trip to the hospital just before we were due to leave from KL airport to Penang - she had been bitten by what we thought was a mosquito the previous night but during the day the bite had swollen - was scary! So upon advice from a chemist we took her to a hospital (luckily there was a 24 hour maternity hospital beside out hotel - which also it seems dealt with insect bites) and she was given an injection in her backside - seemed to sort her out as she hasnt complained much since!!! We then took a night time flight out of KL to Penang ...
