I've only just arrived here after a very long flight ( thank God for travel tabs!) which was delayed three hours due to mechanical problems.  The airline actually sent in a new plane for the flight which was why the delay was so long.  So instead of having to kill two and a half hours before flight I had to pass six in the airport.  We all got food vouchers for 350 Baht, about $12 to use at the many lounges and restaurants in the modern but sterile airport.  We finally got off the ground at about 4AM, and pulled in to London at 930AM local time.  I can't check into my room until 2pm so I've started a new travel blog while I wait.

Ugh, our dollar is funny money compared to the pound.  They get $2.30-1£.  But looking at the real estate listings I don't think they are any better off for it.  A single bedroom apartment/flat can go for anywhere from £200-1000 PER WEEK!  £800 a month is a very good deal I'm told for two people to split, and that's a small place in an almost nice part of town.  Good thing they have the tube here, the rail system is incredible, you can get from most anywhere to anywhere else easily enough with a little planning.  Although the price does come into play.  I've bought an Oyster card, which lets me preload it with money and then I just swipe it and ride... plus it discounts the fares in some parts by half!  Still it cost me about £5 to get from the airport (don't get me started on Heathrow) to Hammersmith where the hostel is located.  I actually picked this hostel because of the fact that it sits across the street from the tube station which is served by three different lines and its very easy to find... especially because its easy to find.

Ugh, our dollar is funny money compared to the pound.

I'm excited for Europe, I'm thinking that I'll try to stick to Eastern Europe because of the low expenses, and relatively unspoilt nature compared to Greece/Italy/France/Spain which I still want to see very much but time will tell.

I think I'll go try my hand at a true English breakfast, my body won't know what hit it after all the healthy, spicy foods its been fed in the last few months.
