I have been promising for days to tell you about this hotel, so that is the focus of today.

It was so wonderful to wake up in a climate controlled room. There is a little break in the quite in the morning when a bunch of guys show up to use a little motorbike to drag jet skis on the beach, but once that commotion is over, serenity returns. We manage to pull ourselves from bed and make it downstairs for breakfast. I have become so spoiled with the marvelous fruit here and I will truly miss it when we return home. As mentioned before, you can't get all needed dishes at once, but they do all appear at some point.

After breakfast we returned back to our room.. And without further ado, let me talk about this hotel some more. In case you have forgotten from all those days ago, we are staying at the Layalina on Kamala Beach. We booked a "Private Heaven" room and they are just that. The room is spacious with wooden floors. There is a balcony that overlooks the beach and has a hammock that you can hang up. The only time that we weren't in heaven is when we were fighting over the hammock! :). The bathroom has a separate shower and over sized jacuzzi tub. The interesting feature of the bathroom (and this has pluses and minuses) is that the bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a large venetian blind on one side. This is arranged so that you can pop into the tub and put the blind up and be able about to gaze upon the ocean whilst you soak. When you are ready to get out you put the blind back down. I will leave the minuses to your imagination, but I am sure that you can figure it out! The bathroom has wonderfully scented bath soap and shampoo in it. The bed is comfortable with lots of pillows and a fluffy comforter. The cool thing about the room is that there is a little round box that controls everything in the room.. All the lights, the air conditioning, and even the do not disturb light. Happily for me, it was on my side of the bed! :)

What makes the private heaven room special is their upstairs. All the private heaven rooms are on the second floor and have their own spiral staircases which lead to a private sundeck on the roof. They have a large bed with cushions and an outdoor shower. Of course they have a view of the ocean as well! During some parts of the day, it gets pretty hot up there, but at the right time, it is a comfortable temperature and amazingly peaceful. We never asked for this service, but the hotel's website claims that they will make up the bed on the roof for you to sleep in. Hmm.. when Jeff started snoring, maybe I should have put him up there!!

We spent the day enjoying the various amenities of the room and getting settled in. We ate dinner at one of the three restaurants around the hotel. I don't know the names of any of them, but this one was over the scuba store. We ate there a few times and the food was wonderful. I think I had Italian. I found it very interesting that almost every restaurant had a small Italian selection on their menu. If memory serves me correctly (yes I know I should have kept up with all this better!) this place had garlic cheese bread to die for!

We headed back to heaven to get another nice quiet cool night's sleep.
