After a morning lecture on the French Resistance during WWII, we said farewell to Lyon and began our leisurely cruise to Tournon – along the way we passed through several “locks” – where we “dropped” around 35 feet. On the boat we also had a class on how to crepes!  That takes real practice!

Once in this lovely town of Tournon we met our host family for Dinner – Bob Lubac and his daughter Marie met us at the boat and gave us a lovely tour of the city before we joined his wife Kathy at their home. For dinner we started with hors’duerves of nuts, olives and great sausage with a very light sweet white wine. Then a salad and unique pasta with ham for dinner. We were the last to return to the ship around 11:45 pm. Our hosts were great at telling us stories about France and the home they purchased 21 years ago. They bought the home with all of it’s possessions which included artifacts dating back to the mid 1800’s.

We had 2 different red wines for dinner – we discussed politics, religion, wine & food …. A perfect evening.

Our pace is slow …. Every meal is an experience – and the wine is river that connects us all.

Life is good …. Viva la France.

We are following in your footsteps this fall (October 2007) and doing the Paris/Provence cruise with GCT with the Normandy and Nice extensions. Thanks for the wonderful info. Any suggestions?
