Day 4....and it rained I cctually managed a full nights sleep so woke at 8.30am bright eyed and bushy tailed Its funny how on day two i got up showered dried/straightened hair and put on make up....day three i showered but didn't straighten hair no make up and wore the same clothes (changed ma pants tho ) today (day 4) didnae even bother with the shower and yes another pair of clean pants! Headed out about 9.30 and it was poaring with rain...you know that horrible kind ya get where its p'in down but still bloody hot....thats the stuff. I headed into the centre of town then had some brekkie at Pret a Mange (i know....how adventurous ). Because of the crappy weather i decided to head to the Museum of Hong Kong History....the place was massive.....took me more than 2 hours to get through the lot. Here is where i saw disposable face masks for people to put on in the Museum (you know the surgical ones) you get quite a lot of people walking the street wearing these...i know it was common during the bird flu scare but didnt think it happened anymore. Apparently the boss man of HK says that if you have a cold you have to wear them in public to stop it spreading!! Can't see it catching on in Aberdeen...we'de all be wearin them So after the Museum i was pshattered so headed back down town battling ma way thru all the umbrellas! The streets here are crammed with folk and couple that with umbrellas well you're takin your life into your own hands just steppin out the front door! I think all the hardened sight seeing had caught up on me....that and with the crap weather i decided to park maself up at a cafe with internet access. That night I met a friend of a friend, Amanda and her husband Edmond who live in Hong Kong. We headed out to the Avenue of the Stars. Its a place along the promenade of Kowloon just like Hollywood Boulvard but with all the asian stars....so bruce lee and jackie chan...there were the only 2 i knew. We also watched the Symphony of Lights again but i wasn't as spectacular as Tuesday night....i'm glad i saw it on Tuesday as there were no fireworks in the show tonight (apparently they only do that certain nights of the week). Then we headed for dinner. They took me to this massive chinese restaurant....i'm trying to think of the best way to descibe it.....but like a massive canteen chinese style! There were folk for miles even a wedding party goin on at the far end of the restaurant. I put my life in their hands and told them to order me traditional food....So the menu was:

  • Egg & Fish soup
  • Chicken and pork stuff (the chicken was on the bone and very scronny!)
  • Some chilli green stuff
  • Dumplings with some meet in (can't remember the prop name!)
  • Pork spare ribs...they were fine
  • Some chinese puddings which i have no idea are called tasted ok but very bland

So in conclusion.....i got back at hostel still feelin a bit peckish.  Had a brainwave tho....the "Chop Stick Diet" really cannae work the things but you know what they say....when in rome!  Prob why i was still hungry.

Another thing they had at the restaurant was a massive fish tank where you choose which fish you want to have and they cook it fresh....if i wasn't off fish already that really could have done the trick

Amanda and Edmond were lovely  and it was good to get some insight from the locals.
