Kuala Lumpur
From February - May 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Mar 22 '07
Kuala Lumpur was a real experience. Apart from Jamaica, it was without a doubt the hottest place that I have ever been. I’m just not built for such heat! KL is a very noisy city and, combined with the (not always pleasant) smells and East-meets-West atmosphere, it's great fun. We went up the Petronas Twin Towers and the Menara KL Tower, which base jumpers are allowed to leap off on 31 August, Malaysia’s National Day. It looked far too low for us to be happy to jump off!! We also visited the city’s Orchid and Hibiscus Gardens, saw the Malaysian National Memorial, Merdeka Square and Chinatown. Malaysia’s police force is celebrating their 200-year anniversary on 25 March, so we were lucky enough to see them rehearse for the celebrations. They had skydivers, helicopter abseilers and motorcycle displays.
