We had just one afternoon and evening in Guilin but in that time we witnessed just how friendly some Chinese people could be when we met Li. A school teacher, Li approached us in the street and quickly explained that he got precious few opportunities to practise his English and would we mind if he hung out with us for a while. He was a nice chap with excellent English and we made the most of his assistance in buying a new camera, booking tickets for a show and a present for Davids Dads birthday. The show, at the minorities theatre, was expensive but worth a look. It featured costumes, music, dance and if not death defying at least serious injury defying acrobatics performed by people of the four local minority cultures. Our tip go to the show but get the cheapest seats you can to get the best value for money.

Still no photos I am afraid as we also managed to be seperated from the new camera mentioned above one week after! More on that later..
