We arrived in Munich last night, and Anete picked us up from the train station. We fresehened up at her house, then went to dinner with her husband, Hans, and two friends from Italy. We had traditional German cuisine and left the restuarant, at 11 pm with very full tummies.

Today, Anete gave us a tour of Nymphenburg Castle. It just happens to be about three blocks from her home. It is a huge complex built by a king long ago. The hunting lodge, within the grounds, is about five times the size of my house. It was quite impressive. We then went into to the center of town. We first explored Marienplatz. It is a large plaza, with a huge glockenspiel (clock tower) and other nice buildings. We were late to see the clock, but we will come again tomorrow. Twice a day, in the winter, it's wooden figures dance around the wooden king and queen.

After Marienplatz, we walked to Englischer Garten. It is a huge park, with a small river running through it. We got to see many M\252ncheners, at play, in their native environment. People were playing frisbee, reading books on benches, playing music, and of course, drinking bier. They drink a lot of bier here. The Englischer Garten was very nice, in spite of all the activity. We spent most of our time there sitting in the sun. The weather has gotten nicer, finally. Sun today, and Anete says sun tomorrow.

We returned to Anete's just before 7pm. We had a quick dinner, then ran off to a movie. After the show, we went to a bar for coffee and bier. We passed on the beer, though. Another late night. We didn't get back until 11:30pm.
