We are now one week into our stay here in Wewak at the missionaries base close to the airport. Our flight into Port Moresby was great and our small plane into Wewak was interesting. As expected we were one of the few whites on the flight and all eyes were on us in the "terminal", really one  waiting room where all flights for the day departed from. We walked out to find our plane among other little guys and once on board the sweating from humidity increased significantly. There was absolutely no air flow happening inside the small aircraft. The humidity is unbelievable here, and although I was warned by Matt who has been before, I had no idea it would be this sweaty. But I think now about a week into it, I am feeling more used to it. Just standing in the kitchen and buttering toast, although low energy is exerted, makes me sweat and I am now okay with that. Where as before I figured something was wrong with me and I would run to the closest fan chugging ice water. We have been blessed with our health so far and just constantly drinking water to avoid dehydration. We are using run off rain water from the roof that must first go through a filter.

Our neighbors are a family of five. MIke, Jennifer, Michael, Mason, and Matthew Cratch. They are super nice and always making an effort to include us when possible. Survivor night has been fun with them. The families out here love that show, and after hearing some of the stories of living out in the bush, I'm convinced these guys would win , no question about it.

Matt has been busy with a huge building project taking place here on the base. He is able to create his own design to some things and is really enjoying it. It is going to look awesome once he is done. I help when I can, and am trying new recipes to stay busy. It is a challenge to figure out how to cook with so little.

We look forward to our two weeks out in the bush beginning on June 2nd. There should be some great stories to tell of life in the jungle!
