Warsaw, Poland

We visited the Warsaw Ghetto and the Old Town and learned about Warsaw’s destructive past. At the Warsaw Historical Museum, we viewed a documentary film which captured the events leading to the demise of Warsaw. During WWII, it was practically annihilated. Hitler was infuriated by the 1943 Ghetto Uprising and ordered the total elimination of Warsaw. By the end of the war, nearly 1 million Varsovians were dead or “missing” After the war however, survivors of Warsaw united and began to rebuild what was left of their once prosperous city.

Delaurie, Prath, Sylvia and I needed a drink before continuing our journey. Then, they indulged in my request to visit the Marie Curie Museum. The museum was the birthplace of Marie Curie. She was a chemist and pioneer in the early field of radiology and a two-time Nobel laureate. Afterwards, we walked some more and went on a wild goose chase to find a Pope John Paul II Museum. By then, we were so tired that we retired back to the hotel relatively early.
