I have been to Helsinki twice. The first time was when I was 10 years old, it was my first trip to Europe and being exited is almost everything I remember. In July 2005 I visited Helsinki again, it was a bus tour around Scandinavia we were having with my mother. The tour was rather short and unfortunately we couldn't stay in Helsinki for a long time but anyway, it was enough to find the city wonderful.
Finland is thought to be a cold country here, and people from our group took lots of warm/woolen things with themselves. When we arrived to Helsinki, we were surprised to find out that the weather was very sunny and HOT, and the temerature was even more than +30'C... I didn't expect it to be so hot, but it was ok.

Now more than a year have passed and i'm not going to describe all the places we saw in Helsinki, I'll write only about the impressions. The first monument we saw in Finland's capital was Sibelious's monument. It is supposed that if you stand under the trumpets you will here the music:D You should have fantastic imagination to hear it! But it;s not a problem if your imagination is quite poor: there are many musicians around, they are playing Sibelius and of course you can hear the music.
Helsinki is a little city, espesially in comparisson with Moscow which is much larger. But small cities are nice and friendly, and there weren't any bad features I could discover there. I loved Helsinki because of the friendly people, because of the talanted musicians everywhere, because of the tasty fish and LOTS of elks (mooses) which are considered to be the symbols of Scandinavian countries. Toy elks are sold everywhere and you can't stand buying one if you want to have a little memory from Finland.
Many people don't like Helsinki because they say this city isn't as great and beautiful as Stockholm or Copenhagen, but I can't agree with them. Maybe the city is not full of monumental buildings and its history isn't ass great, but it's comfortable to be there and the atmosphere is friendly, like the city had been waiting for your visit and now it's opening his doors for you. Sometimes you can get surprised discovering that there are not many monuments, but you pay attention to ALL of them, you're afraid to forget any details and you try to remember everything about the city. As for me, I'm in love with other cultures and other languages, it's always such a joy to walk around a foreign city and to watch it. Helsinki isn't alike other cities, and other cities aren't like Helsinki. There is no need to compare them. Every city is amazing, and it depends only on the person himself whether to find some special features or not.
It was sad to leave Helsinki, but we had to do it because it was a time to go to Sweden and to visit stockholm...
