Rain, wine, rain and more wine! We arrived in Franschhoek, wine country and got cosy in our little cottage in the Chamonix estate vineyard. Nice and simple, bit like me, nestled in a valley with mountains mysteriously fading in and out of view with the low clouds. We got ourselves sorted out with a few supplies, got the wood fire going and cracked open a bottle of red! In the words of Jack Johnson “there ain’t no need to go outside”, what more do you need!
For the next few days we enjoyed what the valley had to offer, namely lots of good wine and tasty nibbles at the wineries! We visited a vineyard belonging to the family of one of Mad’s New Zealand work colleagues and went to the Diemersfontein vineyard for a few bottles of our favourite! The scenery on the road was beautiful and unexpected even with the rain still present. It came down so hard one night that the roof leaked in the bedroom! We thought the whole roof was coming in! Apparently Cape Town has had some really bad flooding as the level of rain is unusual.

We went out for a bit of a fancy wine town meal, we both tried the Bontebok steak, which was soooo tasty! Though the waitress was a bit scary!
