Hi Everyone!

We were very lucky to be able to return to the Netherlands to stay with our friend and ex-roomie from Australia, Robin - and his family!

The first day over in the West Robin took us to nearby Delft to have a look around. We saw lots of old and beautiful things, including a very important church. This Church, called the New Church (even though it is hundreds of years old) is where memebers of the Royal family are buried. Also buried are lots of Dutch nobility - you can even walk on their graves which is a weird concept for Australians - everything is so old here! It is a shame that much of the original lettering on the tombs has been worn away from millions of footsteps. People can still attend church services in the New Church. The church also contains a memorial to Prince Frederick William of Orange, who is regarded as the saviour of Holland - a very special person! We saw lots of beautiful stained glass windows and some very very old Bibles.

Outside in the Markt the sun revealed itself for what seemed like the first time in days. We took some photos and stickybeaked at a wedding party.

After we walked around Delft for a bit it was time for a cool drink and some snacks. We went to a cafe in the old beast market and sampled some caffiatos (iced coffee drinks) and a selection of dutch nibblies including Bitte ballen and some very yummy fried cheese!

It was really great to meet Robin's family - thank you so much for your hospitality!

Tomorrow we are off to The Hague with Robin who has kindly offered to accompany us to see the sights. Then we are planning to go to Amsterdam for a couple of days, after that time we will return to Robin's parent's place. We will save writing a little more about 's Gravendeel until next time.

Love to you all,

Anna and Michael xoxoxoxoxoxox
