SO, I just had another irritating website-deletes-everything moment, only this time I had written about four days in here, so I'm fairly aggrieved. ggrrrrrrr.
So, it may be pretty short and choppy now because I'm not really in the mood. I'm also going to continuously save it!!!
So, finishing up with Wertheim... Gaby and Werner had us over for dinner, Werner cooked an absolutely GOURMET dinner, including HOMEMADE TIRAMISU!! It was absolutely heave. However, I made the mistake of drinking espresso with it so I was up until 3!!!

Up at 630 the next morning and on the road. In Frankfurt Barb checked into her hotel, we snuck in a side door a little later. It was a room with nice beds etc, but stingy on the freebies (only instant coffee, no free internet-you had to buy a cable and a card). Barb had a big conference call so we got the heck out of there and walked in the forest, building a tipi thingy. More an Art piece than something you could (or would want to) sit in. We stuck sticks in all directions and threw leaves all over it. I shot a 'nature video' of scott working on it, whispering the narrative.

We went for dinner at a really old restaurant that was very out of place in the area (we were in the airport hotel so it was airport, highway, big new buildings, and this one was super old, slightly bavarian styleish) and they had really good food. I had a Hare in my food! Hyuk hyuk...
We had some good one-liners...Barb, you have to remind me of some of them..
"awww, I feel 'lift' out"
At one point, Barb was knocking on the door in a smiley face and when she told us, scott said "wow, you sure are a Menard".

The next day barb left :( and we took a train into downtown.
We went to the museum of moderne art. Piece of Cake. No, really, that's what they call it because that's what the building looks like!!! Cool building, decent-ish collection, it didn't blow my mind...
We took a rideshare to Cologne, where a couchsurfer picked us up..back to budget!!!
So we stayed with Franscico (free!) and then on saturday we went to museum Ludwig, which did and will always blow my mind... (mmm yves klein)

I took a tour of the cathedral while Scott took notes at the museum because he is writing a paper about it for school. I learned that Gerhard Richter (a really awesome german artist that I've been getting really into lately) is designing the new stained glass (which made me think "i wonder if he's in Koln..I wonder if we could meet him?") Everything else the guide said, I already knew from Barb and Ron telling us!
Next we went to a Schokolade Musuem... oh my god. I was in chocolate heaven. you get to walk around a production line and watch them make hollow chocolate and part of truffle making (they must retain some secrets!!) *scott's insert*-While we were sitting outside of the museum, I couldn't help but notice that every woman who walked out of the Chocolate museum had a huge grin on their face, skipped down the stairs, and then did a big spread eagle jump while flailing around their big bag of chocolate from the gift shop.-*end scott's insert*
Then we got to take a 1st class train home on Barb remaining pass.
So, the week was definitely an amazing treat, the kind of travelling we never get to experience. I don't think I've ever eaten so much good food in a one-week period!!! Barb was amazing, she made us feel like first class folks and a trip like that would never have been possible without her extraordinary generosity. (THANKS AGAIN BARB!!!!!)
Next week... How to survive on tuna and soda crackers...
