Grange-over-Sands in the beautiful southern Lakes District was the perfect introduction to this area of stunning beauty in Northern England. A wonderful and comfortable B&B, excellent host, and good weather, all contributed to our stay.
Not far away is Cartmel, a medieval village which boasts a huge 12 century priory, a racecourse, some very good pubs and apart from that, it is just exquisitely beautiful!
Breathtakingly beautiful

Spent our time driving around the Coniston Water and Lake Windermere area (the only lake in the area that is actually called a "lake"). Breathtakingly beautiful, although being summer, lots of tourists. Lunch was had being overlooked by "The Old Man", one of the many whimsically named hills in the area.
The next day went to Ulverston, home of Stan Laurel and the very small, but packed Laurel and Hardy Museum. Watched Laurel and Hardy movies and marvelled at the memorabilia collected by so many people who loved this duo. Still funny today, and it was refreshing to see a young boy enjoying himself so much watching the movies that his parents had to coax him out so they could get going.
