We had left Robinson crusoe and now were back in Nadi, on the main island of Viti Levu. It was meant to be a stop off for no more than two days as we had planned to visit more islands but Paul and I were not feeling well at all...we put that down to the mamouth Kava session we had nearly two days ago.
After spending time in Nadi, staying at the Skylodge Hostel, we had to get out of there and get to another island so we booked a trip to the Walu Beach Hostel on the Island of Malolo, part of the Mamanuca group of islands. We finally set off on the 18th and on board our boat we went past, among others the tiny South Sea Island and Castaway Island, which is of course is the set for film Castaway!

When we reached Walu Beach we climbed off the boat but didn't recieve a welcome song like we did at Robinson Crusoe. Already it wasn't as good as there! Our room though was ver nice. In fact it was a lodge with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room, situated up in the hills of the island, but still only a couple of minutes walk from the beach. It was easily one of the best places we've stayed in (even though there was no hot water). George and I shared the main suite while the others (including Paul and Craig, who we met on Crusoe) had to settle for the normal bedrooms.

The first real day on the island, the weather wasn't so bad to start with. Good enough for us to lay in hammocks and get some reading done. As soon as the inevitable rain came though it was time to go back to the room and listen to some music and generally chill out.
The food there was really good. Quite a decent selection every night for dinner and lunch, but it was pretty tasty and presented like a fancy london restaurant. After dinner we were roped into a balloon popping game which i won along with some girl called Lucy, but the comedy award went to Natalie after she was bounced across the room by Paul's over enthusiasm to burst the balloon! It paid a free cocktail so everyone was happy!

The following day the sun was out so we all go a bit of sunbathing done and some went for snorkling just off the island. We played volleyball with the locals but generally lazed about all day. That nights entertainment saw us involved in an arm wrestling competition in which Natalie and I walked away with a free drink. We organised our own poker match too, with Mario and Lucy joining us (from Crusoe Island). A few more beers and a couple of cheeky cocktails later we then hit the Kava, as Natalie hadn't tried any yet and this would be her only chance. It brought back bad memories for Paul and I but it was just a small we got through so it wasn't so bad.

The last day came and again the weather was pretty good! Paul and George went out on a little sailing trip for an hour or so while we stayed by the pool. The weather turned though just as we were about to leave, meaning we'd get a bit wet upon leaving the island in the little boat. Overall we had a pretty good time there, it was quite a nice place to stay and we had a decent sized group we could all get along with so we were never short of chat, and even though it was good to try another island, it was still no Robinson Crusoe.
