I went to Paris this past weekend with Gabby and Jen. We arrived on Friday night and took an hour bus ride to the center of the city. We stayed in the Montparnesse area of Paris, which was a good location. The city was very big so we took the metro to see the major sights, but it was easy to use. Our hotel was a 3 star, but it was a little junky and the unfriendly people at the desk didn´t speak any English. The hallways had no lights and we were woken up one night by the fire alarm at 4 am because someone forgot to put their cigarette out. Other than those minor details, the place was private and we got a good night sleep there.

After checking into our hotel on Friday night, we went straight to the Eiffel tower. It took my breath away. It was all lit up and they added white blinking lights to make it more glamerous. It was so tall and elegant. We took a ride to the top. The views were great. It was snowing up there, but it was still beautiful. We went to a quiet dinner after that and had some wine. We went to bed early because we had a big day of sightseeing ahead of us.

On Saturday, we went to the Arc de Triumph, which was a beautiful building. There were names engraved in the walls of the French soldiers who died during the war. We walked down Champs Elysses and looked at all the ritzy shops and cafes. We stopped to get a coffee and it was 7 euro...Paris is a little overpriced. We saw the Louvre museum next. The walk to the museum was amazing and every building was bigger and better than the one before it. The Louvre was so large...I heard that you can be there for 3 days straight and still not see everything. We focused on the painting section. There were many Itialian pieaces of art and I saw some of DaVinci´s paintings. The Mona Lisa was good to see, but it was very small and over-rated. I saw the famous sculpture of the winged victory and the Greek Milo. It started raining pretty heavily after we left the Louvre. We went to the Notre Dame Cathedral and took a tour of the inside. The gothic architecture was fascinating and the stained glass was pretty. We wanted to go to the top floor, but there was a long line and it was raining. We decided to go across the street and eat crepes instead. I ordered a crepe with nutella (chocolate). It was so delicious. We took a metro to the Moulin Rouge, the red light district of Paris. We saw the famous windmill and theatre, but the district wasn´t very nice. We wanted to see a show, but it was too expensive. It was a long day, but I am so glad that I got to see the sights of Paris.

We ate breakfast the next morning and went to the airport. No one told us that there was a time change so we missed our flight!! It was frustrating because we checked our luggage on time and we were just shopping and taking our good old time in the airport as the flight left without us. We had to stay in the airport overnight and we were there about 12 hours. It was too far and expensive to go back into the city so we were very bored. I will be sure to be more prepared next time.

your journal was very interesting. You are really seeing a lot of things . that you might never would have seen . Your Mom said you were going to Rome , Tunisia and some other places. Take care of your self and be careful.
