So we flew from Bangkok to Phnom Penh which is a 1 hour flight.  I was very excited to be back!  We got cheated on our bus tickets, they should have been only $3.50 but we were charged a gringo tax so cost us $7 each.  You may laugh at the amout but I was livid.  That ticket guy and I should never meet again because I don't like being cheated even for a penny.

PP was used as a hub for many segments of this journey.  On our way back from Seam Reip driver took us to a hotel and before he could even open the door they said that they were full.  Then, we went to another hotel and everything unfolded for us, again I was asked where I was from.

I never in life thought that I would ever utter the words I am not African!

After looking at a room and deciding the stay the manager asked to see my passport.  Very innocent expcept there was a European travel checking in at the same time and he was not asked for his so I inquired at to why.  The manager did not hesitate in telling me that they do not allow people from Nigeria, Cameroon, and many other African states to stay in there hotel.  He went on to say that these individuals cause way more trouble than they are worth so when they try to check in they are told that he hotel is full.  He stated that the majority of the hotels feel this way.  I absolutely could not believe what I was hearing.  It was like I just stepped back in time to an era where this was common practice.

I never in life thought that I would ever utter the words I am not African!  Everywhere we went people looked uncomfortable, a truly shocking site as we were there to have a vacation.  It is sad that the actions of a few have such as gross affect on many.

Needless to say our trip took huge dive at this point.
