Didn't have the greatest  of starts here.I arrived via minibus and the agents wanted to take us to their bungalow instead of where we wanted to go. After a few angry words we were left by the roadside to fend for ourselves.

I'd met Christian on the way and we walked along the beach in the boiling sun with our backpacks, trying to find somewhere to stay. Its fully developed along the coast here but all places were full. After about an hour we found somewhere , a room for 1600bhat a night.

As the last place was 400, this was scandalous.Prices go up according to the season i've found out since. It was a very nice room tho and next day we found somewhere cheaper.

This seems the worst of both worlds to me. The coast is packed with hotels, so you don't have the relaxed island feel.At the same time theres not a great deal to do but laze on the beach.Maybe i'm getting way too fussy.

I do know that spending a few hours reading in my hammock beats anything i'd be doing at home!.

I'd intended to move on today. Indeed , my bags were packed and actually got on the van, but when there was no one at reception to sign me out they promptly took my bag off and left! Still, there are worst places to stay. I can hear the waves lapping the shore as I write, and a gentle breeze in blowing through this large opensided bamboo house
