Fox and Franz Josef Glacier

We had a great time camping at the bottom of the glacier, you got great views from outside our tent, but it was a bit nippy!

We took a wander up a side if one of the mountains to try and get a good view. It turned out to be quite a strenuous climb but it was worth it. We also went to Fox the same day and managed to get really close to the snout so you could reach out and touch it.

The following day we had booked a helicopter flight to take us up and view the alps from above. However it was so overcast we decided not to do it and had breakfast at the lovely cafe by Lake Matheson instead. Lake Matheson on a clear day reflects the mountains perfectly and you can get some great shots. We got some nice reflections but because of the cloud you couldn't see the tops if the mountains.
