got to puerto iguazu, the little town on the argentinian side of the falls, around 3pm after another 17 hour bus ride. so the hostel´s pool was a welcome sight on arrival - backpacking has moved up a notch in luxury as the climates get warmer! karen had joined us also since salta, so we were a group of four corkonians at this stage!

we were up at 6 the next morning to get the first bus to the argentinian side of the falls but the rain was tropically torrential and non-stop until lunchtime. so we decided to go to the brazilian side of the falls for the afternoon instead as there is less to see there, so as to leave the full next day for the argentinian side. the weather was very grey and dull making the waterfalls look a dirty brown and we left a little disappointed. i was about to tell caitriona and una who are planning on going to iguassu for christmas not to bother but i thought i´d bite my tongue in case the argentinian side of the falls was a drastic improvement....

AND it was!! we got a fabulous day, not a cloud in the bright blue sky which meant the falls looked fresh and white and there were lots of rainbows! there was so much more to see on the argentinian side, the area of the waterfalls is huge and there are many separate falls with various sites to view them from and nice walks through tropical vegetation in-between.

we tried to have the all-you-can-eat brunch in the sheraton which has a view to some of the waterfalls - the guide book said it costs $10 but actually cost $30 which was out of our budget so we went for the cheaper version buffet somewhere else which included the traditional argentinian bbq of meat, meat, offal, and more meat! spectacular views, lovely walks and delicious food rounded off a really enjoyable day at iguazu!
