Our journey in Thailand ended and the next stop brought us back to familiar

territory of Bali Indonesia. We traveled to Bali 3 years ago on one of our 6 week

vacations from the cruise ship, the SS Independence. It is worth mentioning the SS

Independence because it is where we first met. It was also the place that the idea for

this very trip was born. Since then we have had the unique opprotunity to see and

experience many countries across the world:

Costa Rica,Honduras,Guatemala,San Salvadore,Mexico,England,Scottland,Ireland,Chech Republic,Holland,Italy,Austria,Greece,Germany,Thailand,Loas,Indonesia,Australia,New Zealand and Roratonga.

Indonesia is a diverse country consisting of over 300 islands. It is also the home

to the largest Muslim population in the world. Bali is a unique island in that its people's religion is mainly Hinduism.

We arrived into the Bali Denpasar Airport after a 5 hour flight from Thailand. We

got settled into our hotel in enough time to see a famous Kuta beach sunset. After 3

nights in Kuta beach we headed inland to a town called Ubud. Ubud is the cultural capital

of Bali with it's open air markets and numerous temples. The Balanise people are some of

the most peaceful and friendly people we have encountered. They are gifted craftsmen of

wood and stone carvings and these decorate the bulidings giving the city a enchanted feel.

The town is also surrounded by spartan green rice feilds. It was one of these fields, on the outside of town, that we found a comfortable guesthouse for our stay.

Unfortunatly, after 2 days stay we both contracted a nasty diesease, Typhoid Fever.

Typhoid is a serious, sometimes life theatning diesease caused by a particular salmonila

bacteria (Salmonelia Tphi). We got treatment at a local doctors clinic and were percribed

a powerful antimicrobial drug. As you can imagine walking into town from the rice fields

to see the doctor or to get food and water took monumental effort. Our heads ached, our

bodies ached, our temperatures raised up to 102 degrees and our stomachs churned. It took

10 days to fully recover from the illness. However, the sickness really took the wind out

of our sails and droped us into a lull that lasted for the duration of our stay in Bali.

We did however get to see some amazing things while we were there. So you dont feel sorry

for us we will list a few!!!

Shopping the blues away!

Experincing the traditional Balanese culture.

Beautiful sunsets.

Scuba diving the Temple Wall reef.

Hand feeding the monkeys at the Monkey Forest Reserve.
