On our way out of Massachusetts, we stopped by the Salem Witch Museum. It was a great presentation, and we learned quite a bit about the trials. We also got another AAA discount! From there, we drove through Worcester (pronounced "wooster") and saw the site of the first perfect game in baseball history. Then, in Springfield, we went to the Dr. Seuss Memorial Sculpture Garden. Here are some pics!

We went on to Vermont, where we stopped at the welcome center. This center was by far the best one we'd seen, and we got some great photos there. As we continued on toward Montpelier, the state capitol, we began to see some strange road signs along the highway: MOOSE Crossing! and BEAR Crossing! This was sounding like a great place to camp.

We found a state park on Ascutney Mountain, pitched our tent, cooked on our new stove, and read spooky stories by the light of our new lantern. The weather was finally beginning to feel cool, and it was a great night for camping.

So, silly story. When, in olden days, I used to spend a lot of time near Boston (with the unlamented Chris), we once decided to drive to Salem. It wasn't far from his base (which was also near Worcester, which is fun to say) so off we went. Drive, drive, drive, get off the interstate, drive, drive, drive, and we couldn't seem to find any of the things on the map. Many of the road names seemed right, but nothing was in the right place. Eventually we pulled over and asked a cop for directions to, "The Witch Stuff." He looked at Chris funny, and we said again, "You know, the witch stuff, the museum and stuff." He looked at us funny again, and said, "Son, I hate to tell you this, but you're in Salem, New Hampshire." Thank God that Chris only operated a computer, and not a fighter jet.

Ben and Jessica: did you see Moose or bears? We saw 1 black bear in New Hampshire and many signs about Moose. What we saw the most of the we rarely see in Arlington was Subarus! Have a great trip!
