The first leg of my trip to Bolivia was flying from Edmonton to Toronto on a very cold (-22 C) morning. I flew an unfamiliar aircraft, an Embraer 190, which was quite compact. After de-icing and a delay, the pilot assured us the strong tailwind would still bring us to Toronto on schedule.

Arrived in Terminal 1 in Toronto, probably one of the most passenger unfriendly terminals and took me some time to go to the gate (which was also in Terminal 1) and had sufficient time to help the cause of the GTAA with an overpriced meal.

The next leg was on an Air Canada flight on a B-767 to Lima, Peru.

The Boeing 767 we were flying had seen better times and the crew would probably fit into the same category, which reflectd in the service and general attitude. If something is broken, come back again, and we will probably have it fixed.

There was a wide array movies, games etc. the problem was the system was down and it was announced that it would tak 20 minutes to boot the system. This happened at least twice and I could not watch an entire movie on the 8 hour flight, as they gave up and announced that "there was obviously some wiring problem and they were leaving the system alone".

We arrived at the Jorge Chávez Lima-Callao International Airport pretty much at the scheduled time of 22:30. The temperature was 20 C. Lima has a sizeable airport, and there were other flights that were being processed at the same time. The wait was not short, but given the size of the crowd, we moved quite well. the baggage had arrived and as my hotel was quite far from the airport, in San Isidor and as it was quite late, I was advised to take a Taxi.

The taxi ride was a premium as only a few companies have a monopoly inside the Terminal.  The 1/2 hour ride was about US $ 50. Did not have much time in Lima, as my connecting flight to La Paz, Bolivia was at 10:30 the next morning. Had to try their national drink, the "Pisco Sour". A cocktail that has an egg, grenadine and Pisco. This was followed by "Machu Picchu" (who could resist the name), which was also good.

Those were the events for the day, as I had a wake up call at 07:00.
