Arrival in Galway City

Galway: After two very long flight delays, I finally arrived in Galway 3 hours behind schedule. Luckily, my luggage came off the carousel first and I was able to catch the very next bus going to Galway, leaving in 15 minutes. From the air, I could once again see how lush and green Ireland is and from the ground it looked even more beautiful. The day is partly cloudy with mixed sun and rainshowers but not too cold. I snapped a couple of quick photos from the bus and after about 1.5 hours arrived in Galway City.

Chris was at the station to meet me. It was so great to see him after nearly 3 years. We walked through the charming center of town to the local grocer to pick up a few items and then headed out on foot for the 30 minute walk to his house. The house is situated across the river hugging the western most coastline of the island. The area draws lots of tourists because of its proximity to the beach. Chris' house is a larger, older two story stone home which is quite comfortable. I have my own room with an ocean view. Right away I met the pet rabbit, Midnight, and thereafter met Amandine, one of the housemates who I learned on the walk home was Chris' girlfriend. She is very sweet. The other roommates are not around for the weekend so the house is quiet. We just finished a wonderful dinner of vegetable/cheese crepes and chocolate and creme crepes. I will hit the bed soon, though it is still so very light out now at close to 9 pm. We are going to take the ferry over to the largest of the Aran Islands tomorrow for the day. Rain is expected but should not ruin the day. It is not too cold which is good. I will upload some photos after the trip on Sunday.
