Friday 11th April

Dinner at Hauptwil with Schiess’s. Visited Old Mr & Mrs Schiess in nursing home. Mrs Schiess is bed-bound now but Mr Schiess is as chirpy and friendly as ever. We then made our way to the farm where we were invited for tea. Simone was there to help us talk with Werner & Gabi. Watched the milking of the cows, kids played with calves, and played Hockey with Filo the border Collie. Had a delicious raclette dinner. You all get a mini plate and grill your cheese at the table then eat it and warmed up wurst and potatoes and other bits and pieces. So yummy and so much fun. Then Andrew and Werner faced off for another icecream eating contest over two of Gabi’s home-made icecream roulades. We think Andrew won because Werner kept handing over more slices.

Reto called in and then he and Nicole headed off for the gymnasium. Great kids. All of them. Corrinna and Piermin forgot about the language barrier and entertained the kids by taking them around and visiting the animals. Peirmin breeds rabbits and they are so cute – but they will be eaten. It is a farm after all.

Beautiful fare, and great company. A night to remember. Dropped Simone off at Winterthur Bahnhof. Home 10:45 pm.
