A Quick First Stop

After a skimpy 15 minutes of sleep, I got up this morning to head to New York. For any of the Delta flights, I had to have a layover at JFK, so I decided make it a long one. That flight was not so extraordinary, so it actually didn’t feel like I was doing anything new; I was just heading back to Columbia.
Katherine met me at the airport, just off the Airtrain, and it was SO GREAT to see her (Katherine is one of my roommates from Fall semester, a sorority sister, and a really good friend)! I brought just my backpack on the subway, which, by the way, is quite obnoxious on a subway car. The ride was short though, and soon we were back at school, greeted with the familiar smell of roasted “Nuts for Nuts,” the bitter cold, and the awkward turtles of ColumbiaUniversity all over the Christmas-lit college walk.
That night we had the Chicken Tikka Masala I had been obsessing about, a dance party proceeding, and most importantly I got to catch up with my loves Ali, Katherine, Katie, Emily, and Jess. I was exhausted, but it was a great night anyway. The next day I slept in, had coffee with Ali, and a sandwich at Subs Conscious. It was sad to leave my old suite, especially after the illusion of the beginning of another semester there, but thanks to my hosts I was ready for the real journey.
