Momma Mia!!!!
From Well this is potentially the most randon trip ever planned out! It has absolutly zero plan to in Naples, Italy on Jul 24 '07
Woot Woot!!! adam here!! Sorry guys we havent been able to update the blog in a long time I feel bad cause you guys must think we died or something! But fear not the adventure lives on and so do the spirits of ras and adam!!!!
Alrighty Naples... well I personally LOVED this city, but everyone else we've talked to says this city is the biggest dump and they hated it!! I dont know... maybe ras and I are just crazy but we liked it alot! We liked it cause its just straight up dirty italy. Thse guys arnt sugar coating anything. ITs still Mafia run, Petty crime thrives, you cant take the metro past 8pm unless you want to get stabbed, and we were even informed that there was a drive by shooting between gangs a couple weeks before we got there!!! but wait not just any drive by!... this one was from dun dun dun.... A MOPED!!! hahahahah oh those crazy itialians!! Anyways back to our adventures there.
Well the naples train station is suppose to be one of the scariest in europe poeple shooting up on the front steps and everything so we figured we better get the hell out of dodge! We quickly hopped on the metro and were on the way to our hostel we got totally lost once we got off those as the directions were very vague. So we were just wandering around naples until these three young kids came up and passed me a soccer ball. I pulled a little thru the legs and we proceded to kick up a little english and italian conversation not understand a word each other was saying! But somehow these three 12 year olds managed to give us perfect direction to our hostel!! Another little walk and we were there! Our hostel was SUPER laid back and turned out to be a nice shift or energy in the middle of our travels. They had a big screen TV and a stack or movies that you could just hang out and watch for free. SO needless to say ras and I got sucked in and enjoyed I think close to 8 or 9 movies in our three nights there. Such a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of travelling!
After a night of movie watching we awoke for our first day or sightseeing where we headed to Pompei! This was such an intreging stop and an interesting sight to see. In case you didnt know Pompei is an ancient city that was comepletely devestated by an eruption from Mt Vesuvious. This place was a super eerie but something you just have to see none the less. The craziest part about it though I think it that they have actually been able to excavate bodies from the ruins and have them on display in cases around the city! Some of the best (or worse) ones were like, A guy who was just down on his knees in a praying position basically just showing that he had accepted his fate and was just praying to go to heaven. Some other were like a mom who was cradling her kids in her arms, or a pregnant woman. There was even a dog they excavated who was still chained to his house and obviously had no where to run. All in all a crazy sight but I think my favorite part was that we found a whore house in the ruins of the city. It had 5 stone beds to take the hookers to and it even had paintings on the walls of the positions you could put them in and things you could do! Ras and I enjoyed a wicked good laugh! So after that we headed back to the hostel and picked up my number one favorite pizza of the trip!!! (pizza was invented in Naples) and headed back to the hostel for another night of ping pong and movie watching!!
The next day it was time to see the other side of Pompei... so we decided that we were going to climb Mt Vesuvious. This was really cool cause the bus we decided to take stopped us off about 70% of the way up at this guys little shack who was actually an escapee of one of the more recent erutions of the volcano. His story was pretty insane and he even wrote a little book about it. It was 10 euro though so ras and I took a pass... thats like 20 beer in spain lets not forget!!! Anyways the bus then took us up to about 90% of the way then it was up to us to hike the rest. The hike was too shabby either cause there was a little bit of wind so we absolutly rocked it... passing all kinds of old poeple!!! Anyways once we got to the top the view of naples was absolutly spectacular you could see exactly where pompei was and everything... plus we got some good excersice. Anyways after that it was definately time to get some more pizza and of course... do a whole lot more of nothing but enjoy some movies and ping pong..... ahhhhhh it really is a hard knock life!!!
That was pretty much all for Naples nothing really too exciting but we saw some amazing sites and defiantely got some of the relaxation we needed before we headed off to the wonderful world of the pink palace!!! which is in corfue and will be coming up in our next blog!!!!
love and hugs to all
adam and ras
