We spent three nights in Siem Reap, the town beside the temples of Angkor, the most famous one being Angkor Wat.  Due to us not being temple fiends we only spent 1 day at the temples themselves, seeing all the "not to be missed" ones, which were absolutely amazing.

A good tip though is if you go to get your day ticket ($US20) the night before at 4.30, they will let you in for the sunset until the park closes at 6.30 - a freebie!  This is what we did on our first night there, unfortunately the day was cloudy so no pictures of the sunset but worth it for the extra couple of hours you get.

Quick bacground for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about - the temples were built as the capital of a huge Khmer empire dating from 9th Century AD to the 12th, who ruled over Cambodia and parts of the surrounding countries.  The area has 100's of ruins, some huge temples and monastory complexs, others just piles of rocks.

As I dont know much about it all, and reading about temple visiting is probably very boring, I will just post lots of pictures!
