Cairns - first stop in Oz

We arrived in Cairns (from Singapore via Darwin) early in the morning and after the sim cards were purchased we waited over an hour for the free shuttle to our hostel. After waiting for our room and a bit of sunbathing, us meat eaters decided the only way to kick off our cusine in Oz was to go for a steak. The Apres Beach bar in town did a very good steak and quenched our thrist for a first Aussie beer.

That evening we decided the only way to explore the bars of Cairns was to venture on the Frog and Toad pub crawl. It turned out to be quite the Ibizia/Ayia Napa/Magaluf stylee pub crawl. As well as free low-alchohlic drinks, we entered a few of the games just to be friendly. Adam lost he's toad race while myself and Natalie stepped up to the plate to win a $700 dollar prize trip around New Zealand in another competition!!

The rest of the weekend was generally spent mooching around, shopping and booking our Cape Trib trip. Oh and we visited the best urinals we've seen. As you stand doing the business, you can see through to the beer garden, we only hoped they couldn't see us!! As for the weather in Cairns - it was pretty wet, but we didnt expect much else during the monsoon season!!
