I had always heard that you should see the Trevi Fountain at night and I heard right, it was magnificent!  Massive and beautiful ... although my photo really doesn't do it justice.  They say that if you want to return to Rome, you must hold a coin in your right hand and throw it over your left shoulder into the fountain and make a wish. We went to the Spanish Steps as well, but I recommend going in the daytime for a good photo.  Also, the first week of May they cover the steps with beautiful flowers.

The next day went to Vatican Square.  The lines get very long, very quick and guides get priority - thank God we had one!   The Simonetti staircase wasn't part of the Vatican Museum tour, but she asked security if they would let me go in to take a photo... and they did!

I had always heard that you should see the Trevi Fountain at night and I heard right, it was magnificent!

The artwork in the Vatican Museum is just unbelievable.  The ceilings, the walls, the statues...   We went in to the Sistine chapel and they were constantly announcing that you need to whisper... the announcements were more annoying than anyone that was talking.  I wanted to take a photo of the ceiling, but I was afraid they might confiscate my camera, so I resisted.

Then we went to the Coliseum.  Again, guides get to go to the head of the line!  It was pretty awesome inside to imagine what once was.  Then across the street to the Roman Forum.  We only had 15 minutes there, so we couldn't walk through it (time restraints are a downfall to being on a tour), but I would recommend walking through it if you have time.  We also drove passed Circus Maximus and the Palentine Hill. It's hard to believe such large events happened so long ago.
