You probably can't tell just how windy it was in this picture so you'll just have to trust me.

Susan says:

Debbie gets really sweaty palms when she drives in hazardous conditions.

We planned an overnight stop in Eastern Washington so that we could arrive early in Roslyn, WA and enjoy it for a full day. I was intent on finding a local pub for a game of horseshoes with our beer, and we were not to be disappointed. Roslyn is a town easily visited off the main pass to/from Seattle, and has a great mountain backdrop to justify it as a tourist destination, regardless of its TV location fame. Of course, one must like browsing in curio shops.

Debbie says:

I really thought we were going to die on this drive. The winds were fierce. FIERCE. Super windy roads, way too many massive trucks on every side of us and gale force winds for roughly 2 hours non-stop. Even with the weight of all our stuff packed into the Jeep we were getting batted around left and right by the gusts. My hands were constantly sliding off the steering wheel because of the “shitting myself” sweaty palms. Yes, I was driving and every part of me, including my earlobes, were freaking out. Susan took over the driving as soon as I could pull over, which luckily happened before we hit the bridge that was visibly moving because of the winds. Obviously we survived and stayed overnight in a place called Ellensburg (gorgeous sky that night) and then made the little drive to Roslyn the next morning.

Roslyn is tiny. Really tiny. One "main" street and that's it but it's really pretty. I'm not sure if it was because i loved "Northern Exposure" that i loved Roslyn but i think it had a lot to do with it, although i was a touch disappointed that there wasn't a moose roaming the street (like in the opening credits).

The people there were friendly. Even got a dollar worth of change whilst i was on the phone to Jen from some guy on the street. No, we haven't taken to begging for money - the guy came out of the bar next to the phonebox so he was probably just a bit boozy and liked my accent. Or maybe drunk as a lord and couldn't understand my accent so presumed i was begging. Either way - generous bloke.

The B & B were we stayed for the night was gorgeous. Had my first hot tub experience (they had one in the back garden) and the nights were cool enough to justify soaking in the tub for an hour with some champagne. It's a hard life.
