When we arrived in Amsterdam, we brought the beautiful weather. The locals were saying that the weather was overcast and rainy for a week before we arrived. The day we arrived though was a beautiful day in the mid 20's. Unfortunately it was also the day I didn't take out my camera...

Yesterday it had started to rain again. This cut down the amount of things we could do. I still managed to take quite a few happy snaps of the city though - it's a very beautiful place.

Truth be told, it was actually very nice rat...um... I mean 'chicken'.

One thing is how even the simplest things can be so complicated. After 2 days, Graeme finally found a digital camera he was happy with, without the massive price tag. Finding local cuisine is very difficult. It's like trying to buy "Australian" food in Australia... the shops are full of chinese, asian, and italian foods. We are trying to save some money on meals, and ended up going to an Indian restaurant last night called "Samrat's". Maybe we're skimping on costs a little bit too much?? Truth be told, it was actually very nice rat...um... I mean 'chicken'.

The highlight of yesterday would have to be the Heineken brewery. Heineken in Australia isn't half as lush as it is locally. I'm not sure why that is; maybe it's brewed under license, or the transport changes the flavour. But here it's stronger tasting, and ... brilliant. A totally different beer. Graeme says you can live on it. Well, at least the locals do. We've also tried some Amstel and other dutch beers, but Heineken would be the favourite.

Oh, and Graeme says that he appreciates the lobster comments... not. Lol. He says he didn't become a lobster - all because of the super-duper lotion, that's safe for sand, surf, and nuclear power plants.

My feet are still killing, and I'm getting some blood blisters, but I've found a pharmacy, so at least I can patch myself up a bit. It's not deterring me from walking.

Anyway, I'm at Amsterdam airport about to catch our plane to Copenhagen, so I've got to go.

SIL here, glad to hear you're having a great time. Did you have curried rat, um, chicken because you were having Chilli withdrawal?? PS: If you want a good Xmas present this year, you'll want to bring SIL a Babushka doll back from Russia!

Blood blisters....and that's not deterring you from walking...hmmm ...so are you just going to wait for your legs to fall off what? I guess Graeme can continue to strengthen his 'mining muscles' by pushing you around in a wheel chair :)
