Oh if only it were so.
I am holed up in a net cafe around the corner from my hostel (Hayarkon 48), facing a window, with the rain splattering against the glass.
Fan-tas-tic
On the upside, I made it in one piece here, and managed to find my very disorganized way to the hostel via train and then taxi. I believe the culture shock really kicked in when an Israeli boy, I'd guess to be in his late teens, sat on the seat opposite me on the train to Hashalom with a battered rifle slung carelessly over his shoulder. I then saw many many more young soldiers. A very strange sight, coming from England.

Hmmmm...
The flight from Heathrow was pretty dull... erm.. pointless in describing... Message to Mom... they didn't clap when we landed, and they CERTAINLY didn't kiss the tarmac. Another myth bites the dust.
As I mentioned, after arriving at Ben Gurion airport and journeying via train from there to Hashalom; I got a cab to Hayarkon street, through the congested roads of Tel Aviv, and the irritating cacophony of whiney car horns (yes, Michael you are right about those!). On arrival to my hostel, I booked two nights. It appears that the lady behind the counter is under some misconception that I'm 'sweet'. It would seem that saying 'please' and 'thank you' are uncommon occurrances here. I must remember to refrain from using such careless language if I want to blend in.
I am due to meet Karen at 7pm at the hostel, providing she can make it out of work by then.
Boy, I hope the rain gives up at some point. I didn't leave the drizzle in England, to embrace the downpours in Israel!
