We got up early ready for our boat trip to Laos. We went through Thai immigration, then got a river ferry across to Laos (200m) and through Laos immigration. Then we got on the boat which was already quite full of people and found ourselves a seat at the back-which proved to be a bad idea as the engine was so noisy! Then we watched as they literally packed the boat as full as they could and we were all crammed in like sardines for about 6 hours. Scenery was beautiful but the seats were very small and very hard! We eventually arrived at our stay for the night- Pakbeng and after we settled into the room and the hotel manager tried to sell us weed, we walked along the road and found some yummy dinner overlooking the beautiful mekong river. The electricity went out at 8.30pm so we didnt have much choice but to go to bed!
