Career Suicide has visited no places in Vilnius

The bus from Riga to Vilnius was painless.  Both Krystal and I slept almost the entire 5 hour trip.  Our hostel was neat but not great at the same time.  It took us forever to find it.. and the people barely spoke English. The beds were Japanese style.. built right into the wall which meant they were quiet and comfy.  But.. the kitchen had no stove.. and there was no social area.. which really took away from the experience.  We only had one night in town because we are taking the dreaded night bus to Krakow tomorrow night.  We spent our day touring around the old town.. seeing the huge church and just enjoying the city.  It is a pretty nice place, but not as good as Riga.  Again, it was a lot more touristy then I remembered but I expected this.  We managed to squeeze in a visit to the KGB prison which has a history of the crimes by the Soviets against the Lithuanians.  It is neat having been to Russia.. to see the other side of the story.  We found a cafe to eat at that night.. and pretty much went to bed.  I managed to find bar broadway where a person I was traveling with last time got in some crazy trouble with the Lithuanian police.  Memories.

It is never fun when you check out of hostel and then have to fill a day waiting for a bus.  For some reason we can never find enough stuff to do with the day.. and we end up just hanging around.  We found a funicular up a large hill in town and took in the view from up there... then mainly hung out.  We found a strange monument to rocker Frank Zappa and walked through the Jewish area.   We ate dinner and found our way to the bus station.

The cities are flying by fast and furious right now... I would love to spend more time.. but we have officially booked our tickets home on the 20th.. which means being home in Edmonton.. and finally stopping this blog.
