an "Enchanted" day in Bend

My day starts out with the persistent knocking from the housekeepers, that I have grown accustomed to.  How annoying!  This is the second morning in a row that I have been woken up...and it isn't like I have been sleeping in!  I send them away, so that I may have time to fully wake up.  I head over to the breakfast room and make myself cereal with milk, hot chocolate, and orange juice.  Then, I go online and book my hostels for Portland, Oregon tomorrow night (I got the last bed left in the two hostels...wow, I am lucky) and Seaside, Oregon.  I then play on different airline websites and compare prices for flights.  I don't actually leave the hotel until noon, but as soon as I leave I head for Pilot Butte, a nearby small mountain/hill with a hiking trail spiraling around it.  Once I am engaged in the act of hiking, I remember I must call my employer.  So...of course I call when I am slightly winded, but all is well and I work out a date to restart work when I arrive back in Maine.  Pilot Butte offers me great views of Bend, Sisters, and the surrounding mountains.  I wander downtown to the Patagonia store and buy the shorts I had been eyeing two days ago...and I end up talking with the employees for about an hour.  Then, I grab some fruit and a veggie burger to eat and I am off to McMenimans Theater to watch "Enchanted" for $3 on a loveseat in a converted school house.  The movie is fun to watch and I enjoy the luxury of simply watching a movie.  I head back to the hotel, update my journal, watch "American Idol" (since I really never watch television, I am being introduced to these singers for the first time...so it is actually quite entertaining).  I shut the TV off, update this blog, and decide to read a little more of my book before I go to bed.

I think this walk has helped me figure out what I really want, but sometimes those things feel so far in the distance.
