They say it's a dry heat so it isn't so bad...

We don't understand why Phoenix even exists.  It is so hot that it seems completely idiotic to have built a city there.  But they did.  And they have a baseball team, so to Phoenix we went.

Anna's friend Kate and her brand new husband Brent were kind enough to put us up.  We were so thankful to have air conditioning, a pool, internet access, and showers...we can't even describe how exciting it was to be in a real house in 110 degree heat.  Brent even took us to see F16s up close and personal, which was awesome.  (Did we remember the camera?  Nope.  Sorry, Dad.)

Kate came with us to the baseball game at Chase Field, which is an amazing ballpark.  (Did we remember the camera?  Yup.  Did Maggie remember the battery?  Nope.)  The roof opens and closes, and even when it's open they air-condition the entire place.  Pretty wasteful in our environment-loving book, but we have to begrudgingly admit that it was awesome.  Nothing like sitting in 75 degree comfort to watch a game under the real sky and then sweating uncontrollably when you have to walk to your car.

We pulled a great seat-hopping move and ended up right along the third base line without ever sitting in our actual (cheap) seats.  In another moment that was not Maggie's finest, we missed the first 20 minutes of the game and therefore missed them actually opening the roof.  Maybe next time.

The park will probably be one of our favorites because it has an incredibly intimate feel, even on the upper deck.  It's hard to start ranking now because we've only officially been to one other park on the trip, but the early odds are good for the Diamondbacks.

Seat hopping huh? Worked for me and Lindsay in Chicago years ago, why shouldn't it work for you?
