Having to leave Taupo pre-maturely a few days earlier we decided to head back that way en-route to the Waitomo Caves. This time we were able to check out Huka Falls which are impressive and the Geo-Thermal Power Station (unfortunately we were too early to see the gates opening) along the way.

Taupo is regarded as the best place to skydive in NZ; pretty much because it's the cheapest :o) Before I continue I'll need to disappoint a few people by saying in the end I didn't do it. Several reasons or excuses whichever way you want to look at it. The first I didn't want to. The second - I only wanted to do a skydive for the exit photo and a mid-air fart horn shot. Both of which would have cost me $140 extra but would have looked crap as the guy carried the camera on his hand. The third - my emergency dental treatment cost me more than a skydive so adding it all up along with some other activities we have planned I couldn't justify it. Fourth and most importantly - nobody tried to convince me hard enough :o)

Absolute Adventure in Waitomo..

After Kev & Barbara jumped out of a tiny aircraft at 12,000 feet we drove onto Waitomo. We were booked in the next morning with Absolute Adventures to do some caving. If you want to be just another tourist then this isn't for you. If you don't mind possibly getting hurt, bruised, nails broken, hands cut or using your brain then this genuine adventure is for you. We had a fantastic time! All three of us thought it was one of the best things we've (ever) done. Only groups of 5/6 can do it so you need to book ahead. Highly recommended.
