This is just a quick entry to cover my first night-time restaurant excursion here in Cameroon. Some of the teachers with whom I have become friends are leaving as their assignments have come to an end. Elizabeth is an MK who grew up in the Philippians – she is leaving to get married. Her fiancé is currently working in China.
They plan to spend the first couple years of marriage in the US and then, who knows where they may end up.
What a delicious treat!!!
Wednesday night, Elizabeth invited me to come to dinner on her last night here in Africa. We met up with some friends of hers who teach at the American School here in the city. Most of their students are embassy children and children of wealthy Cameroonians. It was fun to spend time with some other Americans that I don’t see every day at work.
I just have one picture of the restaurant. I’ve been there for lunch before – really, really good. The place used to be a house that has now been converted into an open air restaurant. Absolutely beautiful! Lots of lush dark wood. The owner is French. La Salsa. I know, I know – I thought Mexican too . . . but, no – really delicious and fairly affordable French food.
April Garbat is also leaving (though not for a few more weeks) – she has been teaching Social Studies / History here. April grew up here in Cameroon and is ready to spend some time in the US figuring out what her next move will be. She is such a fun, bubbly person – I’m really going to miss you, April!!! Your smile always makes my day!!
I had the chateaubriand with sautéed potatoes and haricot vert (green beans). What a delicious treat!!! Thank you, Elizabeth for inviting me along – I have really enjoyed getting to know you. You are a very, very special person!!!!
