. ...OK, this sucks.

I wrote out the next 5 pages of my journal onto the little screen here, and clicked 'save', and then as I went back to read it I saw that there must be some sort of space or memory limitation that they very rudely do not tell you about, 'cause as you just read, it cut off!!! How frustrating, especially when you see how much more I have to say (that I already said but got erased!).

So here it goes again; I'll probably have to break it up into 3 or 4 more sections, plus I'm kind of running out of time now, so I may have to finish it tomorrow...

...Walked over to the market and had soursop shakes, YUM! Looked at fake watches and [presumably] fake 1960's-style US servicemens' lighters (kinda creepy...), and jewlery. I bought a beautifully embroidered hippie-style shirt for US$7.10 (107,000 Vietnamese dong!).

Went home, Rob and I went downstairs to swim but ended up laying ping-pong first (I'm currently 2-0, undefeated!) ;-). Swam, read up on Vietnamese history and stuff to do here; then went back to the apt. and showered. Gus & Laura had some Vietnamese co-workers over to watch an American movie, but I slept (the movie was too violent anyway, plus I was exhausted - didn't sleep much my last night in Manila). I ended up not hearing my alarm, so a 1-hr. nap turned into a 3.5 hr. nap! How embarrassing. I can't believe Rob didn't wake my lazy butt up! They ended up watching another movie while waiting for me. =(

So then we all went out (me in my hippie shirt - gosh I love it!). Ate a bunch of Vietnamese food 'mix-n-match' style for dinner (very tasty, better than lunch) & then went to the rooftop bar/patio of the 5-star Caravelle Hotel for drinks at the 'Saigon Saigon Bar'. Great view and live music! We each had 2 drinks; I had a 'Miss Saigon' and a 'Singapore Sling.' When the bill arrived, I was shocked to see it was US$43 total! Dinner for the 4 of us came to just US$14 total, but drinks were 3x that! >=( Location, location...Still, though, $5 per drink at a 5-star hotel w/good live music and a view is nothing compared to what it'd cost in the US. Funny how quickly I adjust to the cheap prices, though!

...to be continued.... .
