Hey everyone! I'm leaving Suva today, so I thought I would write a goodbye/summary entry about my experience here. Fiji is really nice, but Suva is definitely on the wrong side of the island for the gorgeous touristy beaches that you see in postcards. All of the resorts, beaches, snorkelling, diving, etc, and the international airport are on the other side of Vita Levu. Suva is actually very industrial and modern. Visiting the forestry park was probably the highlight - it was beautiful and we had a blast just roaming around the forest and randomly swimming in rock pools and waterfalls. The water was absolutely freezing, but it was worth it. We took the bus out to the park, which was definitely an experience. Taking buses in other places is hilarious. Plus everyone drives on the wrong side of the road and the taxi drivers are insane. We are becoming expert jaywalkers in between speeding cars coming from all directions. I had a massage at the Pure Fiji factory yesterday - it was absolutely wonderful and probably the most relaxed I've been this entire trip. And I bought some Pure Fiji products for a fraction of the price you pay at home. Those are actually the two highlights of my trip - other than that we have spent a lot of time wandering around downtown Suva, using the internet and seeing movies. I would highly recommend Step Up, but The Marine is possibly the worst movie that has ever been made. No joke. I'm excited for New Caledonia - I have no idea what to expect. It is a French colony, or at least under heavy French influence, so we are hoping for some delicious pastry shops. I'll post more of my adventures from there. For now, my internet is running out and I want to email some people. I'm excited to go back to sea. We haven't had regular classes for 16 consecutive days. I think the routine will be relaxing. Anyway, love to my family and friends.
