5 weeks left in Canada

For quite some time now I feel like I am getting nowhere in this program.. Everyting is just like Katimavik in the sense that were doing the same conflict resloution activities, going through the same changes in people after moving away from home and familiar things and people. I gets a bit discouraging aftert awhile. Our group consists of great people but we are haivng some "difficulties" per say between "The Canadians" and "The Sri Lankans", and yes those terms are used quite often unfortunatley. It seems that I am just getting more and more upset with the amount of needless and circualr struggles and arguments in my group. That fact that all the efforts I have made to patch relationships, cross clutural gaps and misunderstanding are going to waste. We always bring up our concerns and frustration in group meeting but just leave it at that, no discussion, no conflict resolution.. nothing.. just blurt out what or who you are mad at and then move on with you day. No reason behind why you felt that way or anything. But recently we have adressed that issue within the group and I hope to god for my sake and eveyone elses that we will be able to apply the tacky but effective "I feel, When you, I need you to" technique. True it is expected that we come across some rock times. We're 9 Canadians fom diffrent backgrounds and upbringings as well as 9 Sri Lankan people from a completley diffferent culture, but I think we should all be responsible, mature and civil enough to be able to realize these issues and resolve them.
But onto some more uplifiting issues and events.
On the 15th Rohana and I went into Winnipeg with Murray and Donna because they were going to a relatives birthday. So to take advantage of that we went to visit my grandmother and Aunt. We spent the morning with them and then after chatting for a bit, Alix and Raeleen stopped by and we drove over to the forks (scary ride let me tell you :P). So yeah it was really cool to see them.. It had been since 2004, when i was in Katimavik that I had seen them. So yeah we chilled at the forks for a bit, spoke a little sinhalese to a Sri Lankan food vendor (Ironic or what??) and chilled out for a few hours until we needed to get back to Donnas brother's house. And sure enough we got a little lost but after a bit of superb map reading by yours truely we made it back to the house and said our good-byes.
And just this past weekend our whole group had the opportunity to create a haunted house in the old theatre in town. We had the help and use of props provided by a crazy local person. But needless to say this woman had everything you would ever need or want for a haunted house. Without her help and time we would not have been able to make it what it was. We spent about three days decorating and planning for this event. We opened the doors to the public Sunday Monday and Tuesday (Halloween). Overall I think the head-count was around 300 or more people went trhough the house. There were times when I dont think anyone wanted to be in those hot and sweaty suits but for the most part I found that scaring little kids really passes the time quite nicely.
