I think ColonÃa and DÃa del Campo are helping me realize that maybe I'm not a city girl. I never really thought that I was but ColonÃa confirms it.
We got up early to meet at the port so we could take the Buquebus across the river to ColonÃa which is in Uruguay. We got to ColonÃa around noon and had the day at our leisure. It was fantastic.
We took our time eating lunch and spotted an old time photo place across the street. A few of us decided to go ahead and get one taken. We picked a day at the beach theme and it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

After that we just walked around the city. ColonÃa has a historic section where we spent all of our time. There we shops and cobblestone streets and a beach. And it was fabulous. The sound of buses and traffic were replaced by the gentle lull of scooters, bikes and golf carts. There was the occasionaly taxi but no buses in sight. It was such a departure from Buenos Aires which is so full noise and activity and pollution. That's another thing, there was fresh air.

I'm not saying that I don't like Buenos Aires or that I would prefer to have been in ColonÃa all this time. I mean, I'd be bored to death if I had to live there. But quiet and stillness are two things I've really learned to appreciate here and ColonÃa was full of them.
It was just a really nice day. And! Since there's not really anything to do in ColonÃa, people rent bikes, scooters and golf carts for the day. Turns out the best place to get them there is Thrifty Car Rental. Small world, huh?
