Paradise.. the pacific.  We flew from Edmonton to Salt Lake City, to Los Angeles to Nadi - Fiji.  We had not booked anything in advance, because, I thought it would be easy to find something nice.  We got off the plane and were immediately bombarded with Fijians attempting to persuade us to visit their hotels and resorts.  It was not as easy as we thought.  We eventually settled on staying on a small island called Bakana just off the small city of Lautoka.  Lautoka is slightly industrious with a big port.  Krystal and I took a crazy taxi there.  We were pretty sure we were going to be robbed but it turned out fine.  A small boat ferried us to our island resort.  It was not luxury , but it was really nice.  We stayed in a small bur on the beach.

The first day the weather was really hot.  We snorkeled and relaxed.  The next day we got up nice and early and kayaked around the island.  It was amazing.  The view of endless ocean is very intimidating and humbling.  It took almost an hour to get all the way around.  The food on the island was included in the package and was pretty good.  In the afternoon the weather started to turn a little colder and it began to rain. The rest of our time on the island we spent relaxing and reading in our cabin reading.  It was great.  Krystal had quite the scare when a spider the size of my hand appeared on the shower curtain/  I have never heard her scream like that.  We had the staff attempt to kill it but no one could catch it.  It is still alive somewhere in the room.

On our last day we went back in Nadi.  We toured around the town. It is fairly run down but the shopping was good.  We stayed just outside of Nadi on the beach for our last night.  This was the first time I drank Kava.  Its a drink made from the Kava root that numbs your mouth.  It tastes like dirty water.  The next morning we got up and boarded our flight back to Sydney.  Arms full of duty free.
