Friday 6 July

We left Brussels at 8'45am and headed for Reims. Driving past the most beautiful french countryside we saw crops of corn; spinach & wheat and checkd into hostel at 12 noon. After checking in we headed straight to the Veuve Cliquote cellar followed by the Pommerey cellar & were lucky enough to walk straight into a tour & tasting at both cellars straight after each other.

We bought ourselves to a bottle of la Grande Damme (very special vintage) which we hope to drink in a very special place somewhere in europe.

The tour took us into the caves, 30 metres beneath the ground, about 10 degrees in temperature, and built during the roman times about 2000 years ago. There were amazing engravings inside the caves which date back to the 1800s. We bought ourselves to a bottle of la Grande Damme (very special vintage) which we hope to drink in a very special place somewhere in europe.

At dinner that night I tested our my very basic French on the locals and asked them in french ¨do you speak english¨to which the lady responded a very resounding Â¨NO¨.

Saturday 7 July

After brekkie in the hostel we drove to see the Notre Dame Cathedral which was massive!!! After this we also saw St Remis Cathedral which was not as big but we were able to go inside. Also very impressive.

After this we headed for Paris where we were staying for a few days
